OCT 2024:
- 4 Oct- Family Day at Tut Fann: 4 Oct, 10:00 am -3:00 pm.
- 5 Oct - Madison Street Festival: Saturday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Madison Veterans Park
- 6 Oct - District 12 Meeting: Sunday, October 6, Post 15 Decatur. Lunch at 1:00, meeting to follow.
- 7 Oct - Post 229 hosts a free Monthly Coffee and Donuts at the Veteran Administration Clinic, 08:30 A.M. - 12:00 P.M., located on Markaview Road Northwest, Huntsville. - Post 229 members and volunteers are invited to visit for an hour or so to greet veterans attending their appointments.
- 10 Oct - Monthly American Legion Post 229 Meeting: Auxiliary meeting at 5:30. Legion Family Social at 6:30. Post 229 Meeting will be held at 1900 (7:00 PM) at Black Patch Distilling Co., 500 Lanier Dr. Suite C3, Madison. (Cdr. Vannoy may bring a few snacks for before the meeting.) A budget review may be on the agenda.
- 13 Oct - US Navy Birthday
- 17 Oct - Veterans Social at Monark Grove: Thursday, 1:30 pm. Meet in the Pub.
- 19 Oct - Troop 201 Blood Drive: Saturday, October 19, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Madison Fire Department, 101 Mill Road.
- 28 Oct - Monthly Veterans Breakfast: Tuesday, October 28, 8:30 am., at the IHOP 8622 Hwy 72W, Madison.
- 29 Oct - Post 229 will participate in the "Trunk or Treat" event to be held...
NOV 2024: Please Read carefully - numerous events...
- 1 Nov - 18th Annual Heart of the Valley YMCA Veterans Prayer Breakfast at Hogan Family YMCA, 130 Park Square Lane, Madison. Veterans and Active Duty may request and register for a free ticket prior to the event. Otherwise the price is $35. Contact: events@ymcahuntsville.org or call (256) 428-9622, ext. 208. Doors open & coffee social at 6:45. Event starts at 7:30 A.M.
- 2 Nov - Placement of Veterans Day Flags: Saturday, November 2, 10:00 am. Madison City Hall.
- 2 Nov - District 12 invited members and family to attend an Air and Car (1930's and 40's) show at the Cullman Airport from 9 AM to 3 PM.. Exhibits and aircraft rides will be available and an organization will provide a free lunch to veterans.
- 4 Nov - V.A. Clinic Monthly Coffee and Donuts. 08:30-noon. Feel encouraged to drop by for a few minutes to greet numerous veterans arriving for their appointments.. (Note: Event is helping sign up new members.)
- 7 Nov - Heroes Welcome Event. 3:15 PM at the Huntsville International Airport.
- 7 Nov - V.A. Huntsville CBOC Resource Fair. 9 AM-1 PM. Provides information on programs and healthcare options for veterans.

Madison City Schools Veteran Related Events:
- 7 Nov - Monrovia Middle School (1216 Jeff Rd.) Veteran Breakfast & Assembly. 0830-1030. Enter at the back of the school by the gym. Breakfast followed by an assembly event.
- 7 Nov - Columbia Elementary. Parade 9:00 - 9:30 A.M. If you want to participate, line up on carline driveway.
- 7 Nov - Heritage Elementary. Parade 9 AM. Just show up in your vehicle and drive through.
- 7 Nov - Midtown Elementary School. Parade and Breakfast. Line up for parade at 08:30.
- 7 Nov - Discovery Middle School. Assembly and Breakfast. No RSVP needed. For 1st and 2nd assembly, enter though the gym. For breakfast, enter though the front office. 1st assembly is at 08:30, breakfast is at 09:00 and a 2nd assembly is scheduled for 09:45; Line up cars for their parade at 8:30.
- 8 Nov - Mill Creek Elementary. Parade with Post 229 float. Meet at the Dog Park Parking lot at the corner of Balch and Browns Ferry Road by 12:30 PM.
- 8 Nov - Liberty Middle Shool. Program 1 at 08:15 AM; Program 2 at 09:35 AM and Program 3 at 1:00 PM. Note: Three separate programs, and you can go to any one of them. Lunch is served in the library from 11::00 AM - 12:50 AM.
- 8 Nov - Rainbow Elementary. Parade 1:00 PM. Just show up and drive through.

- 8 Nov - Madison County Veteran Organizations Dinner at Saturn Hall (Von Braun Center) on Governor's Drive - a Coat and Tie event. Starts at 5 PM per email from VBC; Dinner to follow. Cost is $55. Registration: https://veteransdayparadeandeventsofnorthalabama.org.

- 11 Nov - Huntsville Veterans Day Parade. Post 229's Parade Float will participate. Meet at the Huntsville VA Clinic at 500 Markaview Rd. NW at 9:15 AM for Post 229's trailer float preparations and for Post 229's float riders (or at the parade staging area? NLT 10 AM).
- 14 Nov - Monthly American Legion Post 229 Meeting: Auxiliary meeting at 5:30. Legion Family Social at 6:30. An abbreviated Post 229 Meeting will be held at ~ 7 PM. (7:00 PM) at Black Patch Distilling Co., 500 Lanier Dr. Suite C3, Madison. Lawler Barbeque is generously providing the meal for the 06:30 social.
- 18 Nov - VA Clinic Mid-Month Coffee and Donuts. 08:30-12PM.
- 16 Nov - District 12 Membership Revitalization at Post 15 in Decatur. Review 1983 Report; Coffee and pastry at 9 A.M., Lunch served- meeting 9 A.M.-1P.M.
- 16 Nov - Flag Pick-up: Saturday, 10 AM., meet at Madison City Hall on Hughes Rd.
- 18 Nov - Game Night with Tut Fann from 6PM-8PM.
- 21 Nov - Veterans Social at Monark Grove on County Line Road at 1:30 PM. Meet in the pub.
- 26 Nov - Monthly Veterans Breakfast at 08:30 at the IHOP, 8622 Hwy 72 Madison.
DEC 2024:

- 12 Dec - Monthly American Legion Post 229 Meeting: Auxiliary meeting at 5:30. Legion Family Social at 6:30 and Chili Cook-Off, with a donation for best chili. An abbreviated Post 229 Meeting will be held at ~ 7:15 PM. at Black Patch Distilling Co., 500 Lanier Dr. Suite C3, Madison.
- 14 Dec - Lay Christmas Wreaths at Veteran burial sites in Madison. Meet at the Madison City Hall on Hughes Rd. at 10 AM.
- 14 Dec - Christmas Party for Fallen Veteran's family/children 3:00 PM to 6 PM., at the KBR building at KBR Bldg 6200, Redstone Gateway, SW. Post 229 will bring the member Toys collections for two lottery draws by kids and Christmas candy bags.
- 14 Dec - Christmas Parade, "I'll be Home for Christmas" in Madison at 7PM. Stage near the Phaze 3 Fitness Center, 143 Plaza Blvd, Madison at 5:30 PM for Post 229's parade float preparations and trailer candy collection for distribution along the city's parade route.
- 16 Dec - VA Center Mid-Month Coffee & Donuts: 8:30-1200.
- 16 Dec - Game Night with Tut Fann, 6-7:30 P.M.
- 21 Dec - Veterans Social at Monark Grove 1:30 P.M. Meet at the Pub.
- 23 Dec - CANCELLED Monthly Veterans Breakfast, 08:30 A.M. at IHOP, 8622 Hwy 72 W.
JAN 2025:
- 4 Jan - Pick Up Christmas Wreaths, 10:00 A.M. Meet at Madison City Hall on Hughes Rd.

- 9 Jan - Monthly American Legion Post 229 Meeting: Auxiliary meeting at 5:30. Legion Family Social at 6:30. Post 229 membership meeting at 7:00 PM. -- maybe at Black Patch Distilling Co., 500 Lanier Dr. Suite C3, Madison. (Note: Post 229 meeting location will be changing. Watch the home page for a new location.)
- 20 Jan - VA Clinic Mid-Month Coffee & Donuts: 8:30-1200.
- 23-26 Jan - Alabama Legion Mid-Winter Conference; Deadline January 5, 2025 to get a printed badge. Department conference will be held at the Perido Beach Resort, Orange Beach, Alabama. Notify Cdr. Vannoy if interested in attending.
